Have you ever had a day where you were go, go, go and barely have time to eat or even breathe? That’s what going back to school has been so far and let me tell ya, I am TIRED! On those types of days where you barely have time for yourself, it is easy to get super crabby and just want to crawl in a hole and sleep for forever. As much as I love to sleep, I also love a healthy night-time routine just as much. I previously shared some of my morning routines, however a solid bed-time routine is just as important as a morning one, especially when you’ve had a long day working with other people. You need to take some time for yourself, treat yourself! Here are some of my favorite things that I make sure I do before bed to make sure I end the day on a positive note, and make sure that I start the next day on an even better note!
Lay out your clothes for the next day
This is extremely helpful for people who wake up at the absolute last minute before they have to leave for work or class. Personally, I love to lay out my clothes just because I am extremely indecisive and take forever to decide what I want to wear. If I lay out my gym clothes then I will be much more likely to go right when I wake up, since I won’t have enough time to think about going back to sleep while I’m searching for which leggings to wear today. Lately I have been laying out my school and work clothes as well, this way I am more likely to dress up a little more rather than choosing leggings and a hoodie to wear out to class! It’s the best way to help you look cuter and save time in the morning!
Drink green tea
I have mentioned a million and a half times of how beneficial green tea is for your body. If you want to learn more about its benefits check out my “Post-Holiday Weekend” post. Basically, it is the cure to all of life’s problems and everybody should take advantage of it. Some days I switch it up and drink other types of tea and add honey or lemon, depending on my mood. But green tea will forever be my favorite healthy go-to tea. It’s a perfect way to soothe your body and prepare it for a long rest. If you’re not a fan of green tea, then try out: Earl Gray, Mint, or Dandelion tea!
Do a face mask
This is my all-time favorite thing to do EVER. I have an entire box full of face masks and its so thrilling to look through it and pick out the perfect one to end my night with. Face masks are extremely relaxing and automatically make you feel like you’ve had an incredibly productive day and are a self-care QUEEN! Everybody loves to feel boujee occasionally, and this is the best way to do so. Pair a nice face mask while you’re drinking your green tea and you will feel unstoppable. It is also great for your skin so do yourself a favor and properly take care of it!
Clean your room/house
My mother always used to hassle me about making sure the house was clean before bed, and I never fully understood it until I got my own apartment. Now, I am never able to fall asleep in a messy room. It makes you feel like crap when you wake up! It is not a positive start to the day when you wake up and see a messy house. It allows you to feel more motivated in the morning and will inspire you to keep a clean house all the time. If your house is a mess, then your life will feel like a hectic mess as well. I’m not saying you have to scrub the floors and toilet before bed every night. However, make sure everything is put away and dishes are clean. It’s definitely one of those little things you do that’ll make a huge difference!
Essential oils/candles
Essentials oils have been my best friend lately. I never used to be that person that believed that the smell of lavender would make me calm or that lemongrass would bring “wellness” into my life. Man, I think I was wrong. Whenever I have a long day I throw in an essential oil and let it mist around my room and I swear it calms me down and helps to brighten my mood. I am all about ending the night on a positive and relaxing note, and this is such a great way to. Candles work the same way, light a nice smelling one and let it take you to PARADISE BABY!
These are my 5 favorite things to incorporate in my nighttime routine. Some days I won’t do them all, but the days that I do all 5 (like tonight) I feel like a queen. It makes me excited to start my day tomorrow and completely conquer the world. Night-time routines are important to prepare your mind to sleep at night. Many people struggle with falling asleep at night, so having a routine to follow every -night will allow your body to get the messages that you’re about to go to sleep, therefore allowing yourself to fall asleep easier. Try out these 5 things or create your own! Adjust your routine to your own schedule and preferences and see how it affects your night in positive and healthy way!
