Tricks to Healthy Eating

DIETS ARE DUMB!! Sorry for any of you diet lovers out there, but I hate them and I think they’re horrible. I tried to go gluten free just to see how it positively effects my body, and it only lasted a day and a half LOL. Restricting food does not work for me and always leaves me miserable and craving the foods I cant eat. Ever since I decided not to be a diet bandwagon-er I have seen more positive results in my body than I ever have. Here are my 5 easy switches I made to my diet that have been seriously working so far for me.

First, I will say this until I die DRINK WATER. Life changing guys. Drink a cup before you eat and afterwards to keep you fuller longer. Your body also feels hungry when it might actually be dehydrated. So instead of going straight to a snack when you feel hungry, try drinking water first. For all you crazies that don’t like the taste of water, you can add lemon or blueberries or cucumber and mint to create a yummy refreshing drink.

Secondly, I started to eat low carb. Notice how I said LOW. Carbs are so so important for your body, it needs it as fuel especially if you workout. There are so many ways you can lower your carb intake instead of cutting it out completely. Trust me, nobody is happy on a no-carb diet.

Adding pro-biotics and super-foods into your diet. Pro-biotics balance the good bacteria in your digestive system and improves your gut health.Your gut is the main source of everything in your body. If you have a healthy gut you will see it in your skin, nails, hair, metabolism, and energy throughout the day. With a happy gut is a happy life. Sugar is literally the devil. Guys, sugar is added into everything and is SO bad for you. Limiting your sugar is super important to a healthy life. Cut out sugary drinks such as soda and it can make a huge difference just by doing that. If you buy something that is fat free, you may think that it is the better option. However, that just means it has more sugar in it to make up for the lack of fat. Whatever it takes to limit your sugar is best for you and your health.

Lastly, eat your veggies. My friends make fun of me all the time because I constantly say this. But veggies are the only food group that you cannot ever eat to much of. My favorite way to sneak them in is by adding them to smoothies or mixing them into a skillet with eggs in the morning. Give veggies more credit for all the good they do for our bodies!

These are 5 easy ways to start making smarter decisions in the kitchen. You can workout all you want, but if you do not eat correctly then all the hard work you put in will be for nothing. You are what you eat baby, so eat smart!
